Elizabeth Rosenberg

My clients tend to be deep thinkers whose experiences have been discounted by the healthcare and educational systems. From my experience in community organizing, I focus my work on challenging ableism, fatphobia, and other systems of oppression. Together, my clients and I navigate what to do with the realization that continually shrinking ourselves is harmful and unsustainable. I am here to support people who worry that their therapist wishes they would lose weight. I welcome experiences of chronic illness, diet culture, and neurodivergence to be processed through trauma-informed and relational perspectives.

The Roots of Mixed Metaphor Therapy

Drawing from years of community organizing, Elizabeth established this practice to address systemic oppression and support marginalized voices through compassionate therapy.

What Drives My Approach

Woman of Color Snuggling Cat

Collaboration

I believe the best quality care happens when providers collaborate and work together with the client.

Gender Affirming

I provide gender-affirming care. Trans rights are human rights.

Neurodivergent affirming

I work to challenge ableism by trusting the perceptions and experiences of all types of nervous systems.

Fat Liberation

I believe all bodies are good bodies.

Person-Centered

I follow the wisdom of my clients and support the goals they want to work towards.

Trauma Informed

I believe healing happens through connection and that we are all in the process of healing.

Harm Reduction

I believe in doing what we can now in order to make possible what we want to do eventually. Baby steps are steps.

Anti-Carceral

I prioritize autonomy by avoiding carceral treatment whenever possible.

Contexts and Systems

Examining our experiences in different contexts and systems of oppression provides a deeper appreciation and understanding of ourselves and others.

Relational

I believe in the healing power of relationships and that tending to relationships takes practice and skill.
